Climate Justice Cymru is a Wales-wide initiative led by Race Equality First in partnership with environmental, community and academic organisations. The project aims to ensure Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities – often underrepresented in climate action – are actively involved in shaping and leading Wales’s transition to a low-carbon future.
Green Squirrel are working with Race Equality First to co-deliver climate workshops, mentor Climate Champions, and lead creative learning and communications activities. We are seeking a Project Officer to lead on the delivery of these activities across Wales and support participant engagement.
We are seeking a Project Officer to lead on the delivery of climate action activities with Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities across Wales. Could this be the perfect role for you?
Over three years, the project will engage more than 5,000 people through multilingual climate education, community-led activities, and practical initiatives such as food growing, repair and reuse, and nature-based learning. It will develop community leadership through a network of trained Climate Champions, while influencing policy to ensure climate action in Wales is inclusive, equitable, and community-driven.
About the role:
Hours: Part time: 12 hours/ week
Location: Across Wales. Remote working or – if based in Cardiff – meetings and training to be held at Railway Gardens, Splott
Salary: £27,373 FTE, pro-rated to hours (based on full time 35 hour week) Pro-rated to 12/hours a week this is an annual salary of £9385 before tax.
Contract: This is a fixed term contract that ends on 31st May 2029
This is an exciting opportunity to ensure that diverse communities and emerging voices are represented in the conversation around climate and nature in Wales. You’ll be delivering workshops in communities across Wales, using Green Squirrel’s unique and engaging approach to make climate solutions relevant to everyday life, shared values, and wellbeing.
