We’re recruiting! Comms and Admin Assistant vacancy

We are seeking a freelance Communications and Administrative Assistant to support Green Squirrel’s work.

This role is for 8 hours/ week and is paid at £13/hour. The expected duration of the role is 12 months.

This role is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. 

The closing date for applications is 11pm on Tuesday 4th February.

The key responsibilities of this role will be:
  1. Creating and scheduling content for our social media and other communications channels
  2. Email marketing communications
  3. Supporting our programme planning and delivery through tasks such as creating event listings, booking providers, and pre- and post-event communication with participants.
  4. Coordinating administrative tasks such as purchasing, printing and calendar management.
Person Specification: The right person for this role will be able to:
  1. Manage and prioritise different tasks, working efficiently to ensure tasks are completed by their deadline
  2. Confidently use google workspace apps, slack, canva, and social media tools such as buffer
  3. Good overall digital competency and able to learn to use any other digital tools such as brevo and wordpress if not already confident in using these
  4. Communicate by phone and email in a professional manner that reflects Green Squirrel’s values, and adhere to all Green Squirrel policies
  5. Able to write clearly and professionally for a range of channels, including social media, newsletters, and blogs. 
  6. Work remotely some or all of the time, staying in regular communication with the rest of the Green Squirrel team 
  7. Welsh language skills, whether basic or fluent, are desirable.

How we expect this role to work:
  1. This role is for 8 hours/ week. We are happy for this to be worked as a single day each week or across several days. At least 4 hours/ week need to be worked on a regular day, ideally Monday or Thursday, to ensure consistent communication with the team.
  2. There is the option to work some hours from the Green Squirrel office at Railway Gardens on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays.
  3. We would expect you to be able to work mostly independently from a work plan and communicate with the team mostly through slack, email and zoom/ phone.
  4. You will need to work using your own laptop and phone for this role but all required digital tool/ software subscriptions will be provided.

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 18th (in person at Railway Gardens) and Wednesday 19th (in person at Railway Gardens or via Zoom). If you are invited to interview then you’ll be asked to choose a time slot and tell us whether you’ll be attending in person or via zoom – in person is preferred but we understand that this isn’t always possible. We will send you the interview questions and a short, simple task in advance. Interviews will be conducted in English. You will have the opportunity to let us know of any adjustments you need for the interview process. 

We hope the successful candidate will be able to begin the role in the week beginning March 3rd, although there is some flexibility around this if needed.
