Countdown to The Big Welcome

It's almost time to open the gates and celebrate!

On June 18th you’re invited to join us to open Railway Gardens! The Big Welcome is a celebration of six years of community collaboration to create a vision for a shared space and bring it to life. While there’s still plenty to do – finish the hub and create the allotment space for example – this event marks the completion of construction and the point where community members can begin using the site. And we think that deserves a party!

Read on to find out what’s planned and how you can help. Plus we’d love it if you could put a poster in your window! Email julia@greensquirrel.co.uk to arrange a poster, or download a Welsh or English poster to print at home.

When and where is The Big Welcome?

The Big Welcome takes place on Saturday 18th June, 1 -5pm. The ribbon cutting will be at 1pm and the opening speeches will be at 1:45.

If you’ve not visited Railway Gardens before then you can find us at the end of Adeline Street, just off Railway Street in Splott. The postcode is CF24 2BH, and the What Three Words is send.along.birds.

What can I see and do at The Big Welcome?

We think there’s something for everyone! Here are some of the performers, activities, and refreshments you can expect.

How can I get involved?

We need your help! If you can lend a hand with any of the following please email julia@greensquirrel.co.uk – we would love for you to join the team!

Could you steward on the day? Even an hour of your time is a great help! No experience needed, just enthusiasm.
Could you help us delivery flyers, or put up a poster in a local shop, cafe, or community centre?
Could you bake a cake for the cake stall on the day and help raise funds for the project?

See you at the Big Welcome, Saturday 18th June, 1pm!
