Eco Make and Do
These drop in activities, perfect for festivals or as part of a larger programme of events, help your audience learn a simple practical skill that supports sustainable living or natural craft and play.
Let us know who you work with and the kind of activity you’d like to offer and we can make some suggestions. Our most popular Eco Make and Do activities include…
Lower waste living skills
such as making wax wraps or upcycled washing up sponges to reduce waste in the kitchen, upcycled t-shirt totebags, or packaging free DIY deodorant.
such as sowing seeds in upcycled paper pots to grow a pizza garden or kick-start a sunflower seed growing contest, or making pollinator-friendly seed bombs.
Planet friendly crafts and play
from upcycled t-shirt yarn or colourful handlebar hangers to nature masks, wands or even potion making using carefully foraged materials.
What do I get if a book an Eco Make and Do?
Eco Make and Do sessions can be delivered as live virtual sessions, usually lasting between 20 and 45 minutes, or we can create a pre-recorded video for you to include in your event programme or distribute to participants. Alternatively, if you’re in the Cardiff, Vale, and Valleys area then (Covid rules dependent) we can run a physical drop-in session at your event.
Why book this service?
Our friendly team of Squirrels are great at starting positive conversations with your audience about how their new skills fit into the bigger climate action picture, and how to build on what they’ve learned. Make and Do activities are hands on and engaging, and everything we use is carefully sourced to high environmental and ethical standards, so you can feel confident that everyone taking part feels empowered to make a difference.
Working with Green Squirrel is a great experience as they are always full of lovely ideas! This year they led an Eco Craft session during our annual ‘Gŵyl Fach y Fro’ arts and culture festival. The children absolutely loved having a go at making the ‘Nature Masks’ out of garden materials, and learned that art and crafts can be made, without having to buy expensive resources.
