Cardiff Cargo Bikes

Workshop and sales: Sustainable urban transport for Cardiff

Cardiff Cargo Bikes is run by Dave (and his lovely doggy assistant Maris). Dave can help you choose, buy and get set up with the right cargo bike for your need. And as Cardiff Cargo Bikes are teaming up with the Green Commute Initiative, you could save up to 47% on the RRP of a bike. 

 

Dave also offers an onsite workshop with a range of services for all bikes, cargo or otherwise. Small jobs start from £15, carried out while you wait, and a standard service is £60 with more in depth services available too. Not sure what your bike needs? Arrange to pop by, and Dave can do a quick assessment and safety check.

Feel free to drop in on Thursdays or Fridays, or by arrangement on other days.

Things on Toast

Tea, toast, and friendship - with a slice of creativity!

Things on Toast is an independent cafe at Railway Gardens run by Heather and friends. They offer a selection of toast-based breakfasts and lunches with a regularly changing seasonal menu of toast topping favourites. For £1 you can enjoy toast and a spread of your choice or treat yourself to a full brunch, with options such as roast veg and hummus or crispy Mexican potatoes with poached egg. Vegan and gluten free options available as are a selection of hot drinks. All served from the colourful Toast Shack!

Benthyg Splott

Borrow - don't buy - from this Library of Things!

Benthyg Cymru is Wales’ Library of Things and has one simple goal; to make borrowing as easy as popping out for a loaf of bread.

 

Items available to borrow include gardening and DIY tools, camping equipment and much more, all available to borrow for less than you’d expect to pay second hand, and with the opportunity to pay in time instead of cash.

 

(P.S. Benthyg,  pronounced ben-thig, is a Welsh word meaning borrow or lend.)

Emma-Kate is renowned for designing beautiful silver, gold and pearl floral inspired jewellery, handcrafted in her jewellery design studio here at Railway Gardens. Using the traditional techniques of wax carving and hand forging she creates contemporary, yet timeless jewellery to treasure.

That’s us! We’re a Community Interest Company offering a helping hand for anyone who wants to take action on the climate and nature crisis. As well as overseeing Railway Gardens we offer a range of services, from our online climate action community, The Something Club, to workshops, training, content creation and more. You can explore what we offer here on our site, get in touch, or pop in to our office at Railway Gardens to say hi – we’re in the green container painted with trees directly in front of the gates.

Clocks in Railway Gardens

Clocks  serviced and repaired on site by Qualified Horologist

Clocks in Railway Gardens is an independent clock repair service.

 

The service will involve a careful inspection and assessment before dismantling the mechanism for cleaning and renovation. Subsequently the clock is reassembled and put on test for timekeeping and reliability.

 

Cosmetic work such as refinishing, case restoration and dial re-silvering can be provided if required.

 

All work is given a one year guarantee subject to terms and conditions.
